“Conkin” type filter holder, + Adaptor rings

The square box is a graduated ND filter – a "secret weapon" of landscape shooters, especially in the pre-Digital and pre-HDR days. (Hell, I’ll still use it now, as HDR images that I’ve been able to make suffers from excessive noise and IQ degradation due to the need to stack 3 different exposures. Clouds and tree leaves tends to move…)
The filter holder isn’t the best… but it does the job fine. Surface finish is quite rough – you can see the tool marks on the injection molding. But, hey, it holds a piece of glass that does not need to be optically aligned very precisely…
The 72 and 77mm adaptor rings mount the filter holder to the lens. I can free-rotate the holder and slide the graduated ND filter to change the positioning of the gradient.
The 3rd ring is a 72-77mm step-up converter. My EF-S10-22mm is 77mm, while my EF24-135 walk-around is a 72mm. In the future I will be upgrading to L-glass (all L-Zooms are 77mm) and I can eliminate the hassle and expense of stocking multiple filter diameters…
Versatile range of uses for carbonyl iron powder

plastic injection mold tooling:
Injection Mold Tooling
Question by areena666: What is the easiest and cheapest way to get tooling or moulds made for a short run production?
Our concept design for a new cap closure is nearly finished and we will soon have a few functioning prototypes shortly. However before we go into mass production we feel it will be best to pilot or market test our products to a group of people, our friends and also potential clients.
In order to do this I have been told it may be possible to go to a plastic injection firm and request a short run production..lets say 1000 – 5000 samples
However tooling may be needed….. soft tooling or hard steel tooling..
We are UK based and i have also been advised of not considering China as it is not exactly on our door step if something goes wrong..
Please advise:)
good point..i think i need to rephrase my question…
i have been told nowadays that any form of tooling or moulds can be built but the costs can raise from 1000 up to 100 000……
cheapest – by this i mean cost effective…it is only for samples etc not for mass production
so this for example could be a soft tool, like aluminium,
easiest – i mean by this, maybe there could be a a method I am not aware of…..a simple solution….

Ibanez RG2550Z Prestige guitar demo – Nevada Music UK
www.nevadamusic.co.uk The RG2550Z belongs to the Ibanez Prestige range and is manufactured using a Basswood body with a 3 piece Maple & Walnut neck and a flat Rosewood fret board that utilises 24 jumbo frets with Shark-fin fret markers. Basswood has become a standard material for use in the manufacturing of Ibanez guitars and is a relatively lightweight wood – which makes it suitable for extended playing periods. The pick-up configuration provides USA made Dimarzio IBZ hum-buckers at the neck and bridge position with a single coil IBZ pick-up located in between the two in a middle position. A single volume and separate tone control speed knob provides volume and tone adjustment where appropriate. The RG2550Z uses the Ibanez Edge Zero locking tremolo system which is in a Charcoal finish to contrast with the Galaxy White finish of the guitar. The Edge Zero tremolo sysytem has plenty of adjustment possiblities that allow tensioning of the tremolo arm itself and an intonation adjuster screw to provide accurate tuning up the fret board. The remaining hardware is also finished in Charcoal (machine heads and volume & tone pots) and has a stunning mirror scratch plate that’s sure to look good under the stage lights … lthough Ibanez make a wide range of guitars to suit all styles, they are best known for their range of high octane Super Strats and with good reason. Yes they make superb instruments that can be seen in the hands of some of the world’s best players but they are …

Answer by jim_elkins
You need to charge enought to cover your travel expenses and time. There are two ways you can do it.
One is to charge a lump sum and include it in the price of the job, either as part of the job or as a separate line item.
The other is to charge a lump sum and bill it separate from your job invoice (more bookkeeping that it’s worth).
You don’t say how big an area you serve, or how big your jobs are. If your jobs are small enough to be carried in a pick up, I would think that $ 1.50 per mile, up to 25 miles one way, with a minimu charge of $ 50.00 would be in line. For instance, if your pick up is 25 miles, one way, from your shop – 25 miles x 2 x $ 1.50 = $ 75.00. If the milage is such that it yields less that $ 50.00, then charge the minimum.
The regular pick up and delivery services set their rates according to zones that are generally 5 miles in diameter.
Zone A extends 5 miles from the center of operations, Zone B is from 5 to 10 miles, and so on.
Hope this helps.
