Rapid Injection Mold Tooling
This program shows three different methods of making injection molds using various rapid prototyping techniques. The first example is epoxy tooling made from a stereolithography pattern that is used to mold 15 prototype parts in actual production material. The second example used the DTM process called RapidTool to make mold inserts capable of thousands of injection cycles. These RapidTool inserts were formed using powder metal in a Sinterstation. The powder metal inserts are infiltrated with co

Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) and Polyurethane (PUR) MY RIM V1 0001
Video captures the many commercial and industrial applications of RIM using various polyurethane foam systems. Shows the open pour injection method for automotive rigid parts and also highlights the closed injection method used to make large format parts including device enclosures, housings, covers, panels and other structural parts. The RIM technology coupled with PUR allows designers to make very large one-shot parts, parts with varying wall thickness and also enables the designer to design function and aestetics into both sides of the part. Reaction injection molding offers many more advantages than thermoforming or fiberglass lay up technologies. Using low cost aluminum tooling, Thieme and RIM can make your low annual volume production runs (100-10000 parts) a success. Thieme Corporation, located in St. Charles, IL (Chicago) USA has current machine capacity to run large format parts up to 6′ x 6′ x 2′ in a single shot. We also have numerous polyurethane material systems to choose from to meet all your product needs in the medical, agricultural, automotive, sports and industrial markets. Call me now to learn more about RIM, Thieme or our polyurethane foam systems. We offer free in-house design workshops to assist your company in making parts in RIM. Call or write me now. A ME doesnt belong in a tool room in a plastic injection house.
If you cant find a job at a OEM and you have to be at the “squirt house” you can design better tools . Remember multiple cavities, flow of coolant and ejection methods.
Most Plastic houses use unskilled workers to operate the presses so you must out guess what they will do, ( or NOT do…). Otherwise the next day you will have a truckload of bad parts and lose money. My experience is that short shots and such are not detected by operators that are focused on quotas of parts. start slow. Learn from the experienced toolmakers..Good Luck

(1) I don’t know if this is one of your options, but I believe that “units produced” should be the answer for (E) Quality control and possibly (A).
(2) (3) Sorry, I can’t be any help with these two.
(4) I believe this question wasn’t clear (I’ve found it happens a lot). I think it was supposed to have read “Activity-based costing is most appropriate to use when DIRECT labor costs are a ?. In which case, the answer would be (A).
(5) I’m not sure about (A), but both B and C are true. This would mean that (D) is correct.
(6) A, B, and C, are all false, so (D) is correct
Good luck
